Pohanka Collects Hurricane Sandy Victim Donations [an update]

Pohanka has been collecting donations for the victims of hurricane Sandy.  We store them on site at Toyota, then move them into the Community Foundation.  Here are some more pictures of bagged up donations.  This room-full is the 5th load we are taking down (and a small one at that)!  If you can, please donate.  Many of us were fortunate enough to not be hit too bad here in Salisbury.  But others were hit pretty heavily!

Visit Any Pohanka Car Dealer In Maryland And Help Fight Breast Cancer

Maryland Car DealersAll of the Pohanka Maryland car dealers are joining together for a great cause. For every shopper who comes and test-drives a vehicle at any of the locations the dealership will donate to breast cancer research on their behalf.

It is important for community leaders to set a good example for others, and that is why these Maryland car dealers are dedicated to helping such an important cause. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so shoppers better make sure they come down to test-drive cars before it is over.

This is a fun way these Maryland car dealerships can get people involved in a selfless act. Of course driving new cars is fun, but taking the time to adjust your schedule to attend the event throughout October is thoughtful. Shoppers do not have to donate the money themselves either. The dealership will donate on the shoppers behalf, and post a pink ribbon with their name on it to show their participation.

Maryland Car Dealers Help Find A Cure For Breast Cancer

The whole purpose of this project is to benefit Susan G. Komen For The Cure. This foundation was developed in 1982 when Nancy G.Brinker made a promise to her dying sister to end breast cancer. This foundation has helped fuel scientific research, and made a bold community outreach.

Since 1982, projects like the one going on at the Pohanka Maryland car dealerships have helped invest almost $2 billion dollars to fulfill Brinker’s promise. There is now effective treatment, and more early detection, hope, research, and survivors thanks to Susan G. Komen For The Cure.

Those who want to participate can head to any of the Salisbury dealerships to test-drive any vehicle. Pohanka Acura, Honda, Hyundai, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Toyota are all ready to help find a cure.

Pohanka, Community Foundation, Will Match Donations For Hurricane Relief

Pohanka works hard to give back to our community!  Hurricane Sandy devastated various parts of the Eastern Shore, and many businesses were affected.  In an effort to do our best to help, Pohanka is working with the community Foundation to match donations sent in for Hurricane disaster relief!

Every dollar that is donated will turn into $3
as Pohanka will match it and The Community Foundation
will also match it.

Checks can be made out to The Community Foundations Disaster Relief Fund attention Chris Hagel.

Thank you for anything you can do!!!

It’s just one way that we can find to help; one way… Pohanka Pays It Forward!

Pohanka of Salisbury Car Dealership Collecting Donations

Clothes, food, and financial donations are greatly appreciated, and kind hearted donators probably have these readily available. All of those old sweaters, jeans, shoes, and cans of food that are taking up closet and pantry space are great items to bring to the car dealerships in Salisbury. Remember non-perishable food items are the best types to donate.

The Hurricane Sandy victims need many different items donators may not be thinking of. Children lost beloved toys, and these types of donations help restore a sense of normalcy. Clean out the attic of those stuffed animals and action figures that have not been played with in years. Linens are also important as the cold season is coming up, and temporary housing facilities may not have enough.

Those who are fortunate enough to be able to donate items and help out, please visit the Pohanka of Salisbury car dealerships. For more information on the closest dealership to you please call 877-4-POHANKA or visit http://www.pohankaofsalisbury.com/.

Pohanka Keeps Helping our Community One Non-Profit at a Time

Pohanka has recently taken a new non-profit under its wings. Stop the Violence of Wicomico County, Inc. is in the beginning stages of providing children on the East side of Salisbury with activities to do after school and during the summer. With the hopes of one day becoming a Boy’s and Girls Club of America this fearless group of adults are working together to make this dream a reality.

Recently Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury and the Dempsey family of businesses have helped to sponsor a Logo contest. Area middle school, high school and college students were asked to enter a logo into the contest. 36 submissions were received and after a long process of elimination finally one was chosen. The winner of a brand new I-Pad 2 was a Salisbury University student named Taylyn Furman. “Taylyn’s logo was the best logo out of the bunch, it encompassed exactly what we as a group were looking for in a logo” stated Nina East, Publicity chair. When asked to explain why she chose to enter this logo Taylyn said “the S and the V were combined to form a figurative ‘valley’ to the “new horizon” a child can see by involving themselves with Stop the Violence of Wicomico County. The sun implies happiness and warmth, which is the opposite of violence.”

Stop the Violence of Wicomico County’s mission is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for area youth by working together with caring individuals and providing programs designed to enrich lives and build healthy and responsible young adults. “With this mission and a group of local people committed to helping our area youth and businesses like Pohanka behind this endeavor there is no way we can fail” stated Nancy Rendine, STV President.

Sandy Angello Vice President/Dealer Operator of Pohanka Automotive Group is sitting on the board of directors and has generously donated all proceeds from this years Mercedes Benz Dealer championship to the group. The golf tournament will take place at Rum Pointe in Ocean City, Maryland on July 25, 2011. If you are interested in attending the golf tournament please visit www.pohankaofsalisbury.com or if you are interested in finding out more about Stop the Violence in Wicomico County please call 410-202-3452 and ask for Nina East.

Happy New Year!

2010 on the Eastern Shore was a year most local non-profits and groups would like to forget. Many local non-profits have reported up to a 50% decrease in donations, some have claimed bankruptcy while others have pulled their operations off of the Eastern Shore completely. Like many local businesses on the Eastern Shore Pohanka Automotive Group in Salisbury has felt and is still feeling the effects of the recession, however still feel it is their duty to help those that help others. That is why Pohanka’s Pay it Forward program continues to help local non-profits and groups.

As of December 31, 2010 Pohanka has given to over 600 different causes, donating $257,983 within the last twenty months.

Money donated is taken out of Pohanka’s marketing budget each month, making us dependent on our customers and the non-profits to market this program and Pohanka Automotive Group. Our customers new and old are still excited by this program; they continue to help make it possible for Pohanka to Pay it Forward in this uncertain economy.

By purchasing your next vehicle from Pohanka Automotive Group and supporting our service and parts departments you are inspiring commerce. We thank you for telling your friends and family about this program, and making it possible for Pohanka Automotive Group to continue to give back and help others by Paying it Forward!

Pohanka Pays if Forward because YOUR community is OUR community!
